New Spine Tumor Center Opens At Chicago's Midwest Orthopaedics At Rush

CHICAGO, March 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR) is pleased to announce the opening of the Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush Spine Tumor Center. Leading this effort is Matthew W. Colman, M.D., Chicago's only physician to have completed fellowships in both musculoskeletal oncology and spine surgery. Dr. Colman utilizes evidence-based medicine to ensure that his patients receive world-class care.

Dr. Colman obtained his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He undertook a fellowship in pediatric and adult musculoskeletal oncology at Harvard University and sought out further training as a fellow in orthopedic and neurosurgical spine surgery at the University of Utah.

"There are many types of spine tumors," says Dr. Colman, an orthopedic surgeon at MOR. "Some are cancerous and require a multidimensional approach involving radiation therapy and maybe even surgery. But many patients are surprised when I tell them their tumor may be benign and we can monitor it over time or treat it in a minimally invasive way."
