New Social Media Network MIFAN, Connecting Aspiring Artists, Producers and Investors, Announces Film Project Commemorating 1985 Air India Terror Attack and Indiegogo Campaign to Raise Funds for Production
TORONTO, Nov. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The 1985 Air India terror attack remains the largest mass murder in Canadian history and the deadliest aviation disaster to occur over a body of water. It is one historic event that Canadians of that time will never forget. This is why Toronto-based Members In for Achievements Network (MIFAN) chose this important story to be its first member-supported feature film.
"MIFAN is a new social media network of aspiring artists, producers, investors and other supporters," said Ram Deenoo, founder of MIFAN. "We're launching our first feature, called 'Secret Destiny.' It's a fictional story inspired by the experiences of several heroic families that endured the 1985 tragedy and its aftermath," Deenoo explained.
Mr. Deenoo feels strongly that the 1985 Air India bombing has become an integral part of Canadian history. "We can never forget and we must never be allowed to forget," he further shared. Making 'Secret Destiny' will be no small undertaking. MIFAN plans to get feedback from members that will help select its cast members. The cast will be chosen based on the votes of other MIFAN network members. Members will have an opportunity to read the synopsis and vote for the cast member of their choosing. "This is a revolutionary new way of auditioning and passing an audition. The process is meant to be more democratic and fair. Selection will be based on which upcoming star shines brightest in the eyes of MIFAN jurors," Deenoo added.
MIFAN is raising money for the film's production on Indiegogo. Indiegogo.com is an online website that raises money for projects and causes. Organizations are able to launch their campaigns to seek contributions from fans and supporters. Those who wish to support a particular project like MIFAN's can contribute any amount of money they choose. And for their contributions, supporters may also receive perks that bring them closer to that particular campaign.
MIFAN has established a fundraising goal of $250,000. It plans to use the money to start production and finish the project in 2013, with scheduled distribution by 2015. "It may seem like a great deal of money, but is actually the minimum we will need to do justice to the horrific event and to create a quality film production," Deenoo said.
Those wishing to contribute to this campaign are able to do so at the Indiegogo site for as little as $10 and help make this important film become a reality. In addition to Secret Destiny, other MIFAN projects include four screenplays: Butterfly Dreams, Godse, Must I Remember, Collateral Agony; and Komundo, a nine-part miniseries for television.
