New Reality TV Series Connecting Former Athlete Mentors with Fallen Colleagues Poised to Reach Fundraising Goal to Bring Show to Completion
Dr. J, Darryl Dawkins and many others serve as mentors to help down-and-out peers turn their lives around in new TV show created by former pro athlete Michael D. Thompson
WASHINGTON, June 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A new TV series called ResetTV is getting a lot of buzz these days, thanks in large part to former athletes the likes of former basketball stars Dr. J, Darryl Dawkins, Dominique Wilkins, and many others, who serve as "peer mentors" for fallen former athletes. The series is described as a cross between "the psychological drama and intensity of Celebrity Rehab...and the interwoven storytelling of Celebrity Apprentice or even Survivor." In other words, Reset TV is something rarely seen: quality reality-based TV.

Created and produced by entrepreneur and former pro athlete Michael D. Thompson, ResetTV will complete its final phase of the project once the current process ends on July 4th, appropriately enough says Thompson. Now in its last days of fundraising through Kickstarter, a crowdsourcing platform which allows public contributions toward funding on various projects, ResetTV must reach its goal of $25,000 – the amount needed to complete the series – or it will lose all the funding contributed. However, Thompson is undeterred.
"I'm used to fighting for what I want," he says. "ResetTV is certainly no different."
Thompson is up for the fight. At one time he had a promising career before him resulting in money, women, and cars. But in an instant an injury swiftly took it all away. With severe depression setting in and nothing saved 'for a rainy day,' Thompson had nowhere to turn.
"Like most young men, I didn't think about the 'what ifs.' I felt stuck."
Unlike many though, Thompson was able to recover. And out of his depression came the concept for ResetTV after thinking of others, like him, who, often through no fault of their own, find themselves lost, stuck, with nowhere to go. With just nine more days to go in its Kickstarter campaign, the goal of $25,000 is well within reach.
"I firmly believe in the project and in humanity," Thompson says. "It's what brought us this far. With everyone's help we'll take it much further. I believe in ResetTV and others will, too."
