New Mexico Software Launches Company's First International Telemedicine Service
To Provide Diagnostic Imaging for Heart Institute of the Caribbean (HIC)
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Feb. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- New Mexico Software, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: NMXC), a developer of medical IT services and solutions that enable improved and faster communication within the healthcare community, announced today that it has signed an agreement to provide diagnostic imaging services for the Heart Institute of the Caribbean (HIC) in Kingston, Mandeville and Ocho Rios in Jamaica.
HIC is now sending nuclear and other exams to the TeleRad subsidiary of New Mexico Software. Despite the high prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in Jamaica, there was previously no identifiable center of excellence in this region for cardiovascular care. HIC has filled the gap, bringing affordable, high quality healthcare to the local environment.
The agreement between New Mexico Software and HIC represents an innovative use of medical Internet technology to bridge the human resource gap and enhance the provision of high quality medical care in an underserved region.
"It has been our mission at HIC to provide affordable, high quality, cardiovascular and general medical care in the Caribbean," said Dr. Ernest Madu, founder and CEO of HIC. The partnership with Telerad now allows the average Jamaican to have access to international experts and world-class care without geographical limitations or additional expense. We are always looking to develop partnerships that align or facilitate our mission to improve access and affordability of superior healthcare locally. We are excited about this partnership with Telerad that enables us to further realize our vision at HIC."
CEO Dick Govatski said, "We are delighted that Telerad services have been selected by HIC, the premier center of excellence for cardiovascular care in the English speaking Caribbean. Our shared vision of open access to high quality medical care through innovative use of technology to bring expertise to remote locations has been realized by this agreement. We are excited about opening our first international service with HIC and we see great opportunities for further collaboration."
