New Manufacturing Technology Leads to Job Creation in Bahrain
MANAMA, Bahrain, Aug. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With support from Bahrain Development Bank and Tamkeen, Bahrain will introduce new equipment that will specialize in producing environmentally friendly building materials. Elames, a division of Behzad Group, will use the laser-guided manufacturing equipment to produce construction finishing materials.
The product will conserve energy and, according to Elames, will increase production capacity by approximately 400%. The new equipment will result in the hiring of several skilled Bahraini laborers. Mr. Mishal Behzad, Product Director at Elames says the new machinery will help the company achieve growth goals.
"This technology vastly improves the way we do business," Behzad commented. The company already operates in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and Behzad noted that they plan to expand its presence in the GCC region.
In an effort to implement reforms from Bahrain's recent National Dialogue, the country continues to support environmental initiatives in the region, and seeks to create new jobs.
"The significant jump in production capacity allows us to confidently bid for mega-projects across the GCC. It also lessens our reliance on unskilled manual labourers who can be replaced with a smaller team of well-trained Bahrainis, which in turn cuts unit cost considerably and improves our profitability," Behzad continued.
In line with the goals of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, the project will improve the performance of private sector business in Bahrain. Tamkeen's Enterprise Development Support Program represents a wide range of industries within Bahrain, serving over 750 beneficiaries with one-third of them being women.
A seminar introducing Tamkeen's programs and services to foreign-owned businesses in Bahrain was held Tuesday by the Bahrain Asian Traders Committee (BATC) at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).
