"As a member-driven, non-profit organization we're focused on assuring our members receive high-value, patient-centered healthcare," said Dr. Jerry Reeves, Chief Health Officer for Community Health Alliance. "MCG helps us do that by providing comprehensive, up-to-date, and thoroughly researched health decision support derived from the medical literature. That means our members are more likely to receive care that's proven effective."
Consumers' Choice Health based in South Carolina and Community Health Alliance based in Tennessee began providing coverage effective January 1, 2014. Open enrollment continues until March 31. Created under the ACA Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP) Program, the new health plans offer health insurance in the retail market, with a special focus on the region's uninsured population – nearly 1.6 million in the two states combined.
"With their commitment to making quality care affordable, the new CO-OPs are a key part of the healthcare puzzle," said John Shreve, president of MCG. "We welcome them as partners in the effort to ensure that all Americans receive the right care at the right time in the right setting."
MCG will present information on evidence-based medicine at the annual meeting of the National Alliance of State Health CO-OPs (NASHCO). The meeting takes place Feb. 23 - 24 in Washington, DC.
