New Cloud-Based Service Helps SAP Users Become HANA Ready
The single biggest challenge in a SAP HANA upgrade process is making sure the custom code is HANA ready. Surprisingly few realize this process often requires several hundred days. Cloud-based service provider, Hanalyzer, helps businesses analyze, prioritize, estimate and manage the entire code cleaning process.
AARHUS, Denmark, Feb. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Gets Custom Code Ready for HANA
When upgrading to HANA, the custom code needs updating in order for SAP users to get the maximum benefit out of HANA –or even to ensure that the custom code will still function after an upgrade. "Most SAP users will have thousands of objects with custom code. Each single code line needs to be vetted and fixed for HANA to work best," says Joe Strand, director of Gekkobrain. "On average, our clients have close to 30,000 objects with issues."

No Source Code is Imported
Built as an add-on to SAP Code Inspector, Hanalyzer doesn't import source code. "We deliberately do not import the source code," says Joe Strand. "We believe source code should stay with the customer."
How to Manage 30,000 Small Code Fixes
Most would find it a daunting task to manage 30,000 code fixes, but Hanalyzer first eliminates all redundant objects and issues by filtering for runtime or UPL usage. On average, this analysis filters away close to 50% of the issues.
"Filtering redundant code away allows the project leader to focus and assign team member to each object," explains Joe Strand. "But even after filtering, you still end up with 15,000 issues that all takes maybe half an hour to fix. That's why Hanalyzer also allows the team leader to manage the tasks."
Even New Code is Monitored
During the code cleaning process, new custom code will invariably be added to the SAP system. Hanalyzer constantly monitors the code, and if new non-HANA ready code is introduced, it will be flagged and added to the task list. "Nothing is static in clients' SAP systems, so we have made sure that new code is automatically checked and added to the task list, if it's not HANA ready."
How to Get Started
Getting started with Hanalyzer is as simple as one would expect from a cloud service. After signup, the client downloads a small Hanalyzer SAP program and installs in SAP in a few easy steps.
"Hanalyzer was built to solve SAP HANA upgrade challenges in the companies, where we work. It demonstratively saved our SAP development teams countless hours trying to pinpoint and fix code with issues," says Joe Strand.
The task management features means that clients save more or less one person, since they don't have to micro-manage 15,000 single issues in a spreadsheet or in a project management software.
"No project management software or spreadsheet is built for managing thousands of small half-hour tasks. How do people report back? How to you keep track? How to you find out, when you're ready? And even more importantly, how do you manage new code issues arising over time? Hanalyzer does this. And it does this well."
