New Clarus Poll: Lady Gaga and the Politics of Halloween
WASHINGTON, Oct. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A new nationwide Clarus Poll finds that more Americans would rather dress up for Halloween as Lady Gaga and the Geico Caveman than as well-known political figures.
The Clarus Poll found that, among women voters across the nation, 36% would rather go costumed as Lady Gaga, 24% picked Sarah Palin and 20% selected Michelle Obama.
More men want to dress up as the Geico Caveman (46%) than as Donald Trump (26%) or President Obama (14%).
"Politics are a little scary this year, especially when it comes to Halloween," said Ron Faucheux, president of Clarus Research Group. "Is there any political significance that the Obamas ranked third in both questions? Who knows? Perhaps the Geico Caveman should be trick or treating in Iowa or New Hampshire this year."
The poll was conducted by the nonpartisan Clarus Research Group, a survey firm based in Washington, D.C. These questions were not asked on behalf of, or paid for by, any client, political candidate or party organization. The poll was conducted Oct. 19-21 based on a representative sample of 1,000 self-identified registered voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 3.1%. Live interviewing was conducted via landline and cell telephones.
