New CKO Kickboxing Gym Opens in Fanwood, N.J.
FANWOOD, N.J., July 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- CKO Kickboxing, one of the fastest growing health fitness franchises, will celebrate the Grand Opening of its newest fitness kickboxing gym at 25 South Avenue, Fanwood, on Saturday, July 13, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The high quality, cross training gym provides a family friendly setting to Union County residents who are looking for an alternative to Pilates, yoga, martial arts and spinning classes.
"We're very excited to offer kickboxing classes in Fanwood," said Steven Johnson, franchisee of the CKO Kickboxing gym and his business partner Samantha Erlichman. "Samantha and I have been friends for a few years and actually met via working out. We have a passion for fitness and look forward to a bright future in Fanwood."
The 2,200 square-foot gym features 45 heavy bags and is open seven days a week. Commuters can start the day with a workout at 5:45 a.m. A childcare center is located nearby and offers special rates for members. CKO Kickboxing Fanwood posts its kickboxing classes online. CKO Fanwood is located next to the Sun Tavern.
Grand Opening activities include a free kickboxing class, free chair massages, protein shakes from a nutritionist, balloons for the kids and much more.
"Kickboxing is fun, especially the CKO way. It's simple. You don't feel like you are working out. You get to beat up on a heavy bag, which is great when you are stressed. The hour goes by quickly," said Johnson. "When you go to a regular gym, you work out alone and it is boring. I like being in a room full of people."
Johnson found out about CKO Kickboxing from a friend who was a member.
"I am really into yoga and have a friend who was really into CKO. We made a deal, if she would go to a yoga class with me, I would attend a kickboxing class with her. Well I went and I was hooked. I went home after class and looked online for a location closer to my home in Union County, but there weren't any CKO Kickboxing franchises close to my home. I always wanted to own a business but never knew what to do. I saw this as an opportunity. I fell in love with the CKO program. The more I investigated, the more I liked it. I went from going to one class to owning a franchise," said Johnson, who is senior director of corporate planning for an S&P 500 clothing company.
"Our number one goal is to help our members reach their fitness goals," said Erlichman, manager and head trainer at CKO Kickboxing Fanwood.
"She has worked hard training at other CKO locations to ensure all members here get an amazing workout from day one. Not only do we pride ourselves in an amazing class experience and workout, we also strive to give the best customer service possible. At our gym we like to think of our members as guests in our home," Johnson said.
CKO Kickboxing is an effective exercise and weight loss program for men and women, old and young. A one-hour workout can burn up to 1,200 calories.
"The beauty of our exercise classes is that anybody can do it. Since it focuses more on the fitness aspect rather than the martial art, it is not intimidating. The instructor controls the tempo, but the client controls the intensity. It is this integration that allows an individual to maximize their fitness. Add upbeat music and you have a fun, effective and safe workout," said Joe Andreula, Founder of CKO Kickboxing.
"CKO Kickboxing is a true nationwide sports fitness franchise with gyms from coast to coast," said Andreula.
CKO Kickboxing is one of America's fastest growing franchises according to Entrepreneur Magazine, which included the kickboxing gym franchise in its Franchise 500 list of best franchises. The magazine rated CKO Kickboxing the 48th top new franchise in 2011.
"CKO Kickboxing is emerging as one of the leading fitness franchise opportunities in the country," he said. CKO Kickboxing also was named a 2012 Military Friendly Franchise® by G.I. Jobs Magazine.
CKO Kickboxing continues to grow because new franchise owners receive ongoing training on how to run a business and coaching on the latest trends in health and fitness.
"We treat our franchisee owners like they are family, because they are," Andreula said. "They aren't numbers or faceless profit centers. They are people who we want to help succeed. That's why so many people, including former military members, want to take advantage of our fitness franchise opportunity."
