WOODBURY, N.Y., Jan. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Janam Technologies LLC, a leading provider of rugged mobile computers that scan barcodes and communicate wirelessly, today announced that Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP), a division of the Nevada Department of Public Safety, has chosen Janam's XM66 for use by all officers in the Patrol's thirty-seven statewide duty locations.

Janam's XM66, a rugged PDA-style mobile computer, is designed for extended use in tough environments. It survives multiple drops to concrete surfaces, withstands exposure to temperature extremes and moisture and is certified for use in hazardous locations. In addition, it is the only fully rugged mobile computer that delivers a 3.5" display yet weighs less than 10 ounces. The XM66 was selected by NHP because it earned high scores for all requirements as defined by NHP and far exceeded all competitors when it came to processing speed.
"When issuing a citation, efficiency is essential, as it supports our goal to provide professional and fiscally responsible service to the public," said [Trooper, Nevada Highway Patrol]. "The ability to navigate quickly through the electronic ticketing process was a must-have. We conducted extensive evaluations and the screen-to-screen speed the XM66 delivers is outstanding."
The solution, provided by Trafrec, a vendor that specializes in delivering law enforcement solutions, equips each NHP officer with an XM66, a standard AC adapter, a vehicle charging solution and desktop cradle. As part of the custom ticket-automating application installed on each device, the Janam mobile computer is used to scan 2D barcodes which are now on all Nevada driver licenses and most vehicle registrations. Using the device's Bluetooth connection, a ticket is printed on a Zebra mobile printer and handed to the motorist.
"Trafrec is dedicated to delivering and supporting solutions that enhance public safety and aid law enforcement officers," said Zeeshan Muhammad, CEO of Trafrec Corp. "It is important to provide hardware that is easy to use, technically advanced, efficient, rugged and reliable. Janam's devices easily meet those requirements."
"NHP sought improved accuracy and increased productivity from a mobile solution," said Dwight Ogletree, VP of Sales at Janam. "This is a team that is fully dedicated to serving their public, and we are pleased to provide the tools they need to do their jobs well."
