Neustar Announces DNSSEC for .US and .BIZ

STERLING, Va., June 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Neustar, Inc. (NYSE: NSR) announced today that its registry team has completed deployment of DNSSEC in the .US zone and is ready to accept Delegation Signer (DS) records. The .BIZ zone will follow quickly, accepting records as early as July 15, 2010, making it the second gTLD to be fully DNSSEC-enabled. DNSSEC technology uses public key cryptography and digital signatures to protect the Domain Name System (DNS) from cache poisoning attacks. A poisoned cache redirects users to a fraudulent site where their personal and / or financial information may be compromised. The complex undertaking of DNSSEC deployments in .US and .BIZ are an affirmation of Neustar's continued commitment to a secure Internet. The registry team has been involved in the development of DNSSEC standards with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) since the vulnerability was first identified. When the implementation for the .US zone was approved by the Department of Commerce last year, Neustar adopted a strategic approach to the implementation, first testing both the changes to the environment and the key rollover process within the .US zone.
