Nestlé Health Science Launches the Newest Innovation in the Compleat® Family of Tube-Feeding Formulas
Improved Formulas Provide Healthcare Professionals, Patients and Caregivers with Nutritionally Complete Tube-Feeding Formulas that Include Real Food Ingredients
FLORHAM PARK, N.J., Jan. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Nestlé Health Science announces the launch of the new and improved Compleat® family of tube-feeding formulas for adults and children. The three formulas—Compleat®, Compleat® Pediatric and Compleat® Pediatric Reduced Calorie—now include a variety of ingredients from real foods, plus vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients.
"For over 40 years, the Compleat® family of formulas has been trusted as a consistent nutrition solution that includes ingredients from real foods," said Carol Siegel, MS, RD, Director of Medical Affairs for Nestlé Health Science's Medical Nutrition business in the United States. "We've built on this strong legacy and are proud to offer an improved blend of nutrients that addresses the evolving needs of patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals by providing an increased amount and variety of real food ingredients."
The new Compleat® family of formulas includes:
- A blend of six fruit and vegetable ingredients from real foods (tomatoes, peaches, green beans, carrots, cranberry juice concentrate, and peas)
- Brown rice syrup – no corn ingredients
- No soy ingredients
- Protein from milk protein concentrate, pea protein concentrate, and dehydrated chicken powder
The ingredient list on the Compleat® product labels has now been simplified for patients and caregivers. A scanable code on the carton leads to www.myCompleat.com for more information, educational resources, and tube feeding recipes.
The new Compleat® formulas can be used as a sole source of nutrition for short- or long-term tube-feeding regimens. Additionally, Compleat® formulas can be used as a base for a home blenderized diet, or as a convenient on-the-go nutritional solution.
Designed to promote growth and development for children 1 to 13 years of age, Compleat® Pediatric meets or exceeds 100% Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) for protein and 25 key vitamins and minerals in 1000 mL for children age 1-8 years, and in 1500 mL for children age 9-13 years. Compleat® Pediatric Reduced Calorie provides 600 kcals/mL or 40% fewer calories than other standard 1.0 kcal/mL formulas with micronutrient profiles similar to the Compleat® family of formulas, to meet the requirements of children with decreased caloric needs. Compleat® is formulated for patients 13 years of age and up. It allows for children to easily transition to an adult formula as they grow and their nutritional needs change.
