NeoMagic Introduces Its Digital Photo Manufacturing Kit at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas
SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NeoMagic Corporation (Pink Sheets: NMGC), today announced the official release of "Horizon," a Digital Picture Frame Manufacturing Kit. First demonstrated in Las Vegas at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show, the kit was well received. Providing a solution with a complete bill of materials allows manufacturers' immediate production capability, eliminating development and design time. Its features and functionality provide vendors with a very cost effective solution.
NeoMagic's Digital Picture Frame "Horizon" Manufacturing Kit is based on the MiMagic6+ Application processor and delivers a complete solution for OEM's to reduce time to market. It includes a complete package of hardware and software, whereby OEM's only need to add the mechanicals to produce a consumer ready product.
Seeking opportunities in the United States and in foreign markets, NeoMagic met with manufacturers, distributors, designers, and buyers resulting in several successful engagements with consumer electronic and gift companies at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this past week.
"We've been going to CES for more than 10 years and the interest we generated in 2010 was outstanding," said Doug Young, CEO. "We had dozens of appointments and have scheduled post-show meetings with more than 80% of the companies we visited. The immediate availability of our low-cost, high-quality photo frame provides additional lines of product for existing vendors, as well as, increased margins on existing lines for several suppliers."
The "Horizon" Manufacturing Kit is offered with schematics, bill of materials, Gerber files, and all the hardware and software development tools. "Horizon" supports a 7" LCD (800x480) or a 4.35" LCD (480x272). Other panel sizes/resolution are supported with minor modifications.
Features include 1GB/2GB NAND Flash on board, 16MB SDRAM (expandable to 64MB), SD Card Reader, Mini USB (optional), 8 buttons for user interface, Uart, Jtag and test points for debugging. It is based on a Linux kernel with the application developed by Pivot Systems, Inc.
"We are very pleased with our software for the Horizon Digital Picture Frame and are looking forward to a continuation of the success seen at CES for this product," said Rajesh Nair, CEO of Pivot Systems. "NeoMagic's powerful hardware platform enabled us to build a solid product that has attracted tremendous interest from the OEMs."
