PHOENIX, Sept. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- As a Navy Lt. Commander and helicopter pilot, Scott Moak is comfortable at sea or in the air, but his personal passion lies at the race track, and this week Moak had a one of kind racing experience as the winner of the Best Western and Michael Waltrip "Fan Swap."

On September 8, Moak and his wife Sarah were flown from their home in Chesapeake, Va. to Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR) headquarters in Cornelius, N.C. for a V.I.P tour led by two-time Daytona 500® champion and team owner Michael Waltrip. The Moaks will then travel with the MWR team to the September 10 Sprint Cup race in Richmond, Va., where they will shadow Waltrip and driver David Reutimann during their appearances and enjoy all the high-speed action during the race from a spot on pit row.
Moak was deployed last year for seven months onboard the USS Nassau and was part of a crew that tied the Navy record for most consecutive days at sea (159). In total, Moak has served for nearly 20 years in the Navy and spent more than half that time as a helicopter pilot. While awaiting his next deployment Moak is currently stationed at the Navy Warfer Development Command in Norfolk, Va.
"As a huge NASCAR fan and someone who loves cars, I'm really looking forward to see what goes on behind the scenes at a championship level team like Michael Waltrip Racing," said Scott Moak. "And I'm especially excited to be able to share this amazing weekend with my wife after all the time we've spent apart over the past year."
For the second half of the "Fan Swap," Waltrip will travel to Norfolk to spend a day "working" with Moak at the Navy Command center and visiting the family's nearby home to meet the Moak's two children and their retired racing greyhound "Penny."
""It's always a lot of fun to meet the winner of the Best Western 'Fan Swap' and show them all the work that goes on behind the scenes here at Michael Waltrip Racing before we even step on the race track," said Michael Waltrip. "But this year it's a little more special because we are rewarding an amazing couple that has sacrificed so much to serve our country. I know my entire team and I are pulling out all the stops to make sure their experience is truly unforgettable."
This is the fourth year that Best Western and Michael Waltrip Racing have teamed up for the "Fan Swap" contest and the first time the contest was open exclusively to active and retired members of the armed forces.
