ITASCA, Ill., June 15, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Safety Council, an global leader in safety training, and ECT-Shenzhen have launched the new NSC First Aid, CPR & AED program in Simplified Chinese, expanding the Council's global reach to help protect Chinese workers and their families. The interactive program, which meets the latest global CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care Guidelines, tailors NSC occupational first aid content for the Chinese market, taking into consideration the country's unique workplace needs.
Proper first aid training is one of the most important steps in saving lives and preventing more serious injuries in an emergency. The World Health Organization also said cardiovascular events like a heart attack are predicted to increase by 50 percent between 2010 and 2030 based on population aging and growth in China. The most recent health-related database in China shows that there is one person dying because of cardiovascular disease every 10 seconds. Every year, China funds over 30 billion CNY in treating cardiac disease.
The NSC Standard First Aid, CPR & AED program teaches participants how to:
- Act in an emergency
- Prevent disease transmission
- Check the victim
- Put someone in the recovery position
- Address choking
- Treat bleeding and care for wounds
- Respond to sudden illness
- Help someone who may be in shock
- Provide initial care to bone fracture, joint and muscle injuries
- Stroke assessment
- CPR and the use of AED
"Injuries and incidents frequently happen without warning, and we all should be able to respond quickly," said Donna Siegfried, senior director of First Aid Program Development and Training at the National Safety Council. "You never know when your training will be needed, but when that time comes, it may be the difference between life and death."
The National Safety Council also offers an Emergency Medical Response Quick Reference Guide mobile app. It provides a listing of abbreviations and memory aids, as well as an illustrated summary of treatment steps for various illnesses and injuries. Search "National Safety Council" in the App Store or Google Play to find and install the app.

About Emergency Care Traininig (ECT)

NSC first aid courses were quickly accepted by the non-Chinese speaking community in Hong Kong. ECT also set up a NSC training site at the Caritas Medical Centre-Resuscitation Centre to help expand the training programs further into the local community. The branch in ECT-Shenzhen was established on 4th May 2016. The aim is to promote First Aid and Resuscitation skills in China. Courses can be conducted in Putonghua, Cantonese and English.
