WASHINGTON, April 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Jerzy Buzek, President, European Parliament, and former Prime Minister of Poland, will talk about improving relations between the European Parliament and the U.S. Congress, at a National Press Club Newsmaker, at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 27 in Zenger Room, the National Press Building, 529 14th St., N.W., Washington, DC.

Buzek will address a number of key issues on their common agenda, including climate change, energy security, Russia, the Eastern partnership, terrorism and the Middle East. He will also discuss the European Parliament's increased legislative power following the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty in the European Union.
This will be President Buzek's first visit to the United States as European Parliament President. As Prime Minister of Poland (1997-2001), he took his country into NATO. He is now the first senior EU office-holder to hail from Central and Eastern Europe.
