National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators Announce 2012-2013 Newly Elected Leadership

WASHINGTON, Dec. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- At the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL) Ninth National Summit held November 17-20 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico; the Nominations Committee announced the newly-elected officers of the NHCSL Executive Committee for 2012-2013. NHCSL members present at the 2011 Annual Meeting held in Puerto Rico on November 19th, 2011, elected the following candidates to represent the organization's leadership:

"This new leadership team is eager to add to the many accomplishments NHCSL has already achieved; bringing in more unity and strength among its diverse membership while remaining true to its mission.  With the large gains in Hispanic population in the U.S., it is more important now than ever to fully represent the best interest of the communities we serve and work to ensure that the Latino voice is heard throughout the country," said NHCSL President, Representative Minnie Gonzalez (CT).

This newly elected leadership team will serve for two years. NHCSL Executive Committee Officers represent the full NHCSL membership to national constituencies; they will serve as the voice of over 340 Hispanic state legislators across the country.  Senator Iris Y. Martinez (IL) will continue to serve on the leadership team as Immediate Past President.
