CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Charismatic TV personality and award-winning interior designer Anitra Mecadon is headed to Philadelphia this summer to work hand-in-hand with the deserving Delaware Valley veteran who wins leading drywall manufacturer National Gypsum's PURPLE-TO-PERFECT Contest.
"National Gypsum has a history of supporting and honoring veterans, including a current partnership with Purple Heart Homes, which is why I'm so excited to work with the winner of the PURPLE-TO-PERFECT contest to renovate the one room in their house that will improve their quality of life," said Mecadon. "Whether it's a bathroom, family room, bedroom, kitchen or garage – we'll make it much better!"
Mecadon is best known as the star of DIY Network's hit series Mega Dens and numerous other TV shows for DIY and HGTV, including All American Handyman, Behind the Build Dream Home, Behind the Build Smart Home and more.
"Anitra is a creative force and hands-on renovation expert, so we are thrilled to offer our contest winner the chance to work closely with her to fulfill their renovation dream," said Jay Watt, National Gypsum's director of marketing. "Her amazing room renovations feature custom builds, rescued or renovated furniture, home theaters, innovative gaming areas, clever storage solutions and much more."
To be considered, entrants must create a 60-second video pitch for why they or a veteran they know needs a new bathroom, kitchen, family room, bedroom or garage, upload it to YouTube and then submit their entries on AskForPurple.com/Philadelphia by Sunday, June 4.
The winning entry will be selected based on the veteran's need for a room renovation, the creativity of the nomination and the ability of the renovation to showcase National Gypsum's PURPLE high-performance drywall products, including PURPLE® SoundBreak® XP® Drywall to reduce sound heard between rooms; PURPLE® Hi-Impact® XP® Drywall to resist dings and accidental holes; and PURPLE® XP® Drywall and PermaBase® PLUS Cement Board. All PURPLE XP® products are moisture, mold and mildew resistant.
Nominations can only be submitted by and for individuals who are legal U.S. residents residing within the Delaware Valley zip codes found on AskForPurple.com/Philadelphia, and 18 years or older. Nominees must have served in the active U.S. military, naval, air service or coast guard and have been discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. Nominees also must own the home (e.g. house, condo, townhouse, apartment or co-op) in which they live.
