BALTIMORE, Nov. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Disaster Relief Foundation (NDRF) is celebrating #GivingTuesday, a global movement dedicated to generosity and giving back, by pledging to give 100% of all donations received directly to families whose lives have been devastated by disaster. #GivingTuesday falls on December 2, 2014, the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.

The NDRF launched in Maryland in May 2014. The Foundation's mission is to provide direct relief to families in the U.S. whose homes have been destroyed by natural disaster. Donations made to the Foundation help pay for items that insurance companies and other organizations do not cover, allowing each family to focus on their family's particular circumstances.
"This is a great opportunity for us," said Clinton Pipkin, Founder and President of the Foundation. "Giving Tuesday is important for every charity and for us it's no different. We're giving everything we receive on Tuesday December 2nd, because donors want to know their generosity has an impact."
The NDRF joins more than 10,000 organizations participating in #GivingTuesday, a movement which came together under the leadership of 92nd Street Y (92Y) in 2012.
"It's been a privilege to work with remarkable leaders all over the country building a movement around #GivingTuesday," said Henry Timms, 92Y's Executive Director. "This initiative has truly been crowd-sourced by some of the smartest and most connected minds among the next generation of philanthropists and entrepreneurs."
As part of its efforts to raise funds and awareness, the NDRF has also joined the #MdGivesMore campaign, an effort to make Maryland the "Most Generous State in America." Maryland Gives More is building off last year's tremendously successful BMoreGivesMore campaign.
To join the NDRF's #GivingTuesday initiative, make a donation online, if you live in Maryland you can support the Foundation's Maryland Gives More campaign. If you would like to sponsor a fundraiser of your own to benefit the Foundation, please contact them directly. Donations to the foundation are tax deductible.
