National Council on Disability Observes Veterans Day
WASHINGTON, Nov. 10, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Council on Disability (NCD) is proud to observe this Veterans Day (November 11) with a salute to all of our brave Veterans and a tribute to those who have given their lives so that America remains free.
According to NCD Chairman Jonathan Young, "We can pay no greater tribute to those who serve our country than by remembering what they sacrifice each and every day to ensure freedom in the United States and throughout the world. Many of these brave men and women often return home with physical and mental disabilities. It is to those Veterans with disabilities that we offer special recognition for their service to a grateful nation."
NCD Board Member Lonnie Moore, who was combat-wounded in Iraq, where he led more than 60 combat missions, had this to say: "NCD will continue to ensure that Veterans with disabilities, especially those returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, find their new normalcy as they return to civilian life. This new life should include equal opportunity to the American Dream that they sacrificed so greatly to protect. We will endeavor to improve care and transition for wounded, injured and ill Service Members and their Families. Their commitment and devotion to a free society must be recognized each and every day. We salute our Nation's Veterans and the Families that support them."
NCD also celebrates those Families and friends who support our Veterans while they are in active service and upon the return home. NCD stands with you in looking to the safe return of all of our Service Members and we share with you the peace of knowing the protections provided to us.
