National Coding Contest "Code Your Way to $5K"
Central Learning offers first ever online ICD-10 coding contest
CENTER VALLEY, Pa., Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Central Learning, a product of Aviance Suite, announces an online ICD-10 coding contest for clinical coders in three categories: inpatient, emergency department and inpatient coding. The winning coders receive a $5,000 award for the highest average accuracy and productivity scores. "Code your way to $5K" is a 30-day coding contest open to all medical coders throughout the United States regardless of experience or patient type.
"The online ICD-10 coding contest was created to bring some fun to coders nationwide," said Eileen Tkacik, director of operations and information technology, Aviance Suite. "It also gives everyone in the industry a glimpse into nationwide averages across inpatient and outpatient coding performance in ICD-10."
Contest Deadline: September 15, 2016 Winner Announced: October 1, 2016
Inpatient coders, emergency department coders and ambulatory surgery coders are encouraged to test their productivity and accuracy skills for a chance to win $15,000 across all three coding areas as follows:
- $5,000 goes to the inpatient coder with highest average accuracy and productivity scores across 10 inpatient cases.
- $5,000 goes to the emergency department coder with highest average accuracy and productivity scores across 30 outpatient cases.
- $5,000 goes to the ambulatory surgery coder with highest average accuracy and productivity scores across 30 outpatient cases.
Accuracy and productivity are electronically calculated using the Central Learning platform. Although all cases for a specific category must be completed by October 1, 2016, contestants can code cases at their leisure and over time.
HIM directors and coding managers are also encouraged to sign-up their coding teams to compete. Upon contest completion, each director or manager will receive a complimentary productivity and accuracy report specific for their team to gauge coding performance at the one-year mark for ICD-10.
