My Damn Channel, David Wain & FIAT Re-launch Hit Comedy Series Wainy Days
One of the Longest-running, Most-Watched Online Series Premieres All New Episodes Starting Today
NEW YORK, Dec. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- My Damn Channel, David Wain and the FIAT® Brand have joined forces to re-launch one of the longest-running, most-watched online comedy series. Wainy Days is back for Season 5 with all new episodes, a killer cast, and an exclusive sponsorship from FIAT that includes both a media campaign and brand integration. The first two new episodes premiere today at www.MyDamnChannel.com/WainyDays, with new episodes every Monday in December. The season finale will then debut on Tuesday, January 3.
"David Wain has been with My Damn Channel since day one because we were certain he'd create a hit comedy series that would make us all look like geniuses years later," said My Damn Channel Founder/CEO Rob Barnett. "The fact is we only look smart because we let David do exactly what he wants, and this formula has now won over a very hot brand. We love that FIAT is now backing great original comedy online as the first official sponsor of Wainy Days."
Wain adds: "My hope is that the 'let David do exactly what he wants' formula will now be embraced by the rest of the entertainment industry, as well as my wife."
Wainy Days follows David Wain's (slightly) fictionalized adventures looking for love in New York City. In season 5, Wain is joined by an all-star cast of characters, many of which serve as targets of his pursuit and/or get in the way as he gives it his best try. These include Ken Marino (Childrens Hospital, Party Down), Steven Weber (Falling Skies, Wings), Lizzy Caplan (Party Down, True Blood), Erinn Hayes (Childrens Hospital, Parenthood), Jorma Taccone (Saturday Night Live, The Lonely Island), Zandy Hartig (Childrens Hospital) and Thomas Lennon (The State, Reno 911). Wain & Marino have collaborated often. The two wrote and produced the new comedy feature Wanderlust, opening February 24, also directed by Wain and starring Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston. Wain's many comedy credits include The State, Stella, Wet Hot American Summer, The Ten, Role Models and Childrens Hospital.
Also starring in season 5 of Wainy Days is the new 2012 Fiat 500. The 2012 Fiat 500 models provide an entirely new generation of drivers with the best of Italian motoring: craftsmanship, style and safety, combined with fun-to-drive small-car efficiency. Appearing throughout all six episodes of the season, the automobile not only serves as a means for Wain to travel around New York, but also as a vehicle that is much more dependable than his love life.
The hit comedy series – which debuted in July 2007 – was developed and produced exclusively for My Damn Channel. Season 5 was directed by David Wain, written by Ken Marino and David Wain, and produced by Jonathan Stern. Seen over 17 million times, Wainy Days was voted Best Comedy Series at the 2008 Webby Awards, with Wain also taking home the 2010 Streamy Award for Best Writing for a Comedy Series. Absurd twists and turns and major guest stars are featured in every episode, including Elizabeth Banks, Julie Bowen, Rob Corddry, Ed Helms, Jonah Hill, Rashida Jones, Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman, Amanda Peet, Elizabeth Reaser, Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis and more.
