Munchkin, Inc. Continues Global Growth With Appointment of Vice President to Spearhead Canadian Expansion
Marketing and Sales Veteran Brings Thirteen Years of Consumer Products Expertise
NORTH HILLS, Calif., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Munchkin, Inc., leading designer and manufacturer of clever infant and toddler products, today announced the hire of Christian Carvelho, a seasoned sales and marketing executive, as vice president of sales and marketing in Canada, to support the company's expanding international footprint.
Carvelho is charged with increasing Munchkin's presence throughout Canada and will work to expand distribution and ensure that the company's growth aligns with the corporate mission to provide parents with innovative products that make parenting easier.
"At Munchkin, we continually look for the very best people to help us develop our company in new markets," stated Steven B. Dunn, chairman and chief executive officer, Munchkin, Inc. "Christian's impressive track record and proven strategic thinking will be a critical factor in helping us increase brand awareness and drive sales as we expand our signature infant and toddler products in the Canadian market."
Previously holding the prominent position of director of sales at Kimberly-Clark Inc., Carvelho brings 13 years of industry experience and extensive knowledge of consumer distribution channels for multiple retail customers, including Shoppers Drug Mart, Costco Wholesale and Toys "R" Us Canada. During Carvelho's time at Kimberly-Clark, he was an integral player in the corporation's retail development.
"I look forward to leveraging my expertise to accelerate distribution in the region and introduce a new audience of parents to the Munchkin portfolio of products," said Carvelho.
In addition to overseeing strategic marketing and sales goals, Carvelho will oversee the new Munchkin office that will be opening in Ontario later in 2010.
Carvelho's appointment follows Munchkin's recent acquisition of Lindam, the U.K.'s top baby safety brand and leading international developer of nursery products, earlier this year. The Lindam acquisition has led to the development of a line of Munchkin Safety Gates®, as well as expanded business operations throughout North America and Europe.
Munchkin products are currently available in Walmart and Zellers stores throughout Canada, with increased distribution targeted for 2010 and 2011. For more information on Munchkin, Inc. and Munchkin products, please visit www.munchkin.com.
