Multiple Organics Hosts an International Discussion on Food Safety and Social Responsibility
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- In February, at an international trade show, Multiple Organics hosted their annual dinner with their suppliers and partners from Kenya, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, El Salvador, and Turkey. The focus of this year's dinner was to discuss food safety and social responsibility. The event was held in a 500-year old cellar situated on the site of a former castle, which allowed each of the participants to reflect on how the organic movement is looking back to time-tested practices of harvesting food.

Even though many of the suppliers deal in completely different products, they appreciated a chance to discover the similarities they have. Details were shared about short-term crop loans made to organic quinoa providers in Bolivia and organic sesame providers in Central America. Future plans for long-term loans to improve machinery and safety were also discussed. In addition, suppliers learned about a pending program with Multiple Organics' Kenyan organic macadamia nut supplier which will provide 2,000 farmers and their families with healthcare.
"It's important that our suppliers hear about how we focus on market stabilization of food supply and price points, food safety programs, as well as nutrition education programs aimed at farmers' children," said Roy Jurgens, President of Multiple Organics. As part of Multiple Organics' mission, besides providing extraordinary service to clients, it is also to work with stakeholders who share a vision of a sustainable planet, by partnering to improve safety, promote local social improvements and develop community projects.
