The revolutionary Reward Volunteers 4.0 iPhone App and web widget from Cabot Creamery Cooperative enables individuals and organizations to track the time they spend volunteering in their communities. At the end of each month, Cabot rewards them for their hard work, and for inspiring friends and family to do the same, with a variety of prizes. The more hours volunteers log, the more chances they have to win, both for themselves and the organizations they serve. Now in its fourth phase, the app has been updated with a number of new features and enhancements, and will honor its participating volunteers with more prizes than ever before.
Reward Volunteers 4.0 now includes All for Good integration, in collaboration with Points of Light, which manages postings of current and future volunteer opportunities, while at the same time allow volunteers to search for these opportunities by location. Other new features include updated Facebook integration, allowing participants to invite friends to the app via Facebook; 4-inch retina display support that utilizes the larger screens of the iPhone 5; and a tutorial that walks new users through their first post.
This marks the end of the fourth month of Reward Volunteers 4.0, which launched on August 14. Since then, 544 volunteers have logged more than 20,000 hours, benefitting 614 organizations across the country. Since the program's inception in February 2012, more than 20,000 acts of kindness have been registered.
One of those winners is Mary Hoffman, who serves as the volunteer program director of Henderson Harbor Water Sports. "Our organization is dedicated to to working with people of all ages to promote life skills and enjoyment in the areas of Boater Safety, Sailing, Swimming, Powerboat Operations, in Henderson Harbor, NY and the surrounding area," says Hoffman. "I have been so impressed with Reward Volunteer's dedication to recognizing and rewarding those who volunteer. I was made aware of the organization through a volunteer at a local school, and immediately registered. I love the recognition and encouragement that Reward Volunteers provides, as well as the dedication of the businesses and families that make Reward Volunteers a reality. You are doing so much good for so many others, thank you!"
Another notable non-profit organization benefitting from Reward Volunteers 4.0 is the New York-based Allied Rockaway Foundation for Animal Recreation and Fitness (ARF-ARF), a completely volunteer-run organization that is slowly expanding into more community initiatives. Zina Skachinsky, a volunteer with the program since 2008, and one of this month's prize winners says, "During Superstorm Sandy, we helped pet owners with their recovery, and provided some relief items for those still rebuilding. We are bringing a TNR (trap-neuter-release) program for the area's feral cats to humanely deal with the overpopulation problem, and we are working with our local CERT (community-emergency-response-team) on getting pet owners prepared for emergencies. I signed up with Reward Volunteers because I think it's a fun way to show what good a few concerned citizens can do."
Among the many prizes available in Phase 4 of the program are:
- Thousands of dollars in cash prizes for individuals and organizations, including Grand Prizes of $5,000 for one non-profit and $1,500 for one individual
