#mophieRescue Team Taps St. Bernards To Help Save SXSW Interactive From Dying Mobile Devices
Creators of the Original juice pack® Partner with Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation to Find Homes for the Dogs while Rescuing Mobile Device Batteries Throughout Austin
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif., March 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- mophie—the #1 selling mobile battery case in North America(1), and innovator of power and storage solutions for mobile devices—is teaming up with the St. Bernard Rescue Foundation to save mobile users from low-battery life throughout SXSW Interactive.
Inspired by tales of St. Bernard rescue dogs in the Swiss Alps, the mophieRescue Team will dispatch multiple dogs from the mophieRescue Lodge each hour starting 12pm through 6pm on March 13th, 14th and 15th. All dogs are equipped with mophie power reserve units for those in need of extra juice for their mobile devices. In addition to saving users from low battery life, mophie will work with the St. Bernard Rescue Foundation to drive awareness around St. Bernards who are in need of homes and loving families.
"We've activated at SXSW for several years and saving the batteries of attendees' mobile devices has become our reputation during the week in Austin," said Ross Howe, mophie VP of Marketing. "This year, we tossed in a new element and partnered with the National St. Bernard Foundation for some added assistance to our rescue efforts, while also making the adoption of these lovable dogs easy. The idea is: mophie and the St. Bernards save the people of SXSW. The people of SXSW save the St. Bernards."
To get saved by a mophieRescue dog, SXSW attendees must tweet @mophie using #mophieRescue with a screen shot of their dying smartphone battery icon and their current location. mophie will then tweet back to selected users with a public reply and provide a link to an interactive map, powered by Glympse, which tracks the real-time location of their designated rescue dog. Upon the dog's arrival, winners will receive mophie product and a photo op with their furry rescuer.
The full collection of dogs will be available to visit in-person at the mophieRescue Lodge, which is styled after a traditional Swiss Alps lodge and located at the corner of 5th Street and Trinity Street, a block away from the Austin Convention Center. Entry is free, and mophie will offer themed giveaways, beverages, product demonstrations of the entire mophie lineup including the new juice pack® for iPhone® 6/6 Plus, as well as photo opportunities with the dogs while working alongside the St. Bernard Rescue Foundation.
"We're thrilled to partner with mophie to help raise awareness and hopefully find safe and loving homes for these dogs," said Olive Ashwell, Marketing Manager for the St. Bernard Rescue Foundation. "There's a shared sense of passion between both our organizations as this amazing partnership launches at SXSW."
