Modern/Traditional Korean Restaurant Cha:n opens in Pike Place Market
Opening May 1, 2012
SEATTLE, April 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Seattle welcomes its newest culinary delight Cha:n. Opening May 1, Cha:n will add some spice to the courtyard of the Inn at the Market, located at Pike Place Market. Featuring modern and traditional Korean food and drink, Cha:n is the brainchild of Korean born Chef, Heong Soon Park. Park owns and operates Bacco Café and recently split his two level restaurant to create Cha:n and introduce some modern Korean fusion to the downtown Seattle area. The word Chan, according to Park, means "all the food except for the rice."
Park's vision for Cha:n includes "a more westernized version of Korean food; focusing on balancing flavor instead of making it authentic." The menu, featuring seasonal produce from Pike Place Market, will offer small plates that range from traditional braised short rib and poached black cod to a more modern twist that includes kimchi pork belly and bulgogi sliders. The full bar will feature traditional Korean drinks like Soju and Makgeolli and Asian infused cocktails like the sojito; a mojito featuring soju instead of rum.
Cha:n will be open Tuesday-Sunday 5pm-11pm.
Reservations can be made online at www.chanseattle.com or by calling 206.443.5443.
Located in the courtyard of the Inn at the Market at 1st and Stewart St.
