Mobile Shade for Managed Grazing Livestock

Consumer demand for higher quality food has led thousands of farms to adapt new farming techniques centered on grazing and specifically, managed grazing. This grazing system has proven to be highly beneficial to livestock and meat quality as well as having a powerful impact on soil productivity by dramatically raising soil carbon levels. Managed grazing has been welcomed by farmers because it increases farm profitability by increasing stocking rates and at the same time decreasing operating costs and purchased inputs.

The central feature of this technique (perfected first in New Zealand) requires moving herds to small, electric-fenced paddocks every three days or less. This keeps the grass fresh and allows the pasture to properly rest and recover. Before 2012, the missing element was being able to provide proper shade for animals otherwise stranded in the sun. The easily portable SH1200 solved that problem and for the last five years has successfully provided shade for herds of 75 or more beef and dairy animals all over the world.

• The SH1200 provides 1200 square feet of movable shade and is designed for groups from 30 to 75 head.
• The SH500 creates 500 square feet of shade and will provide movable shade for herds of from 5 to 30 large animals or much bigger numbers of sheep, chickens, or pigs.
