MINNETONKA, Minn., Sept. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Digi International®, (NASDAQ: DGII, www.digi.com), a leading global provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) and IoT connectivity products and services, today announced that it is providing key enabling technology within Daktronics scoreboard and timing system solutions installed at U.S. Bank Stadium, the new home of the Minnesota Vikings. The components and solutions were manufactured in Lewiston, Minnesota and Redwood Falls, Minnesota, respectively, bringing a locally produced solution to this new venue.
For sports fans, the two most important questions typically are 'what's the score?' and 'how much time is left?'. Daktronics selected the Digi Neo PCI Express serial port as an essential element in their scoreboard and timing solutions based on the product's reliability and because it outperformed other solutions during testing of mission-critical connections.
"Fans expect a top-notch game-day experience, and providing up-to-date game information such as game clock, scoring and other stats is important to our customers," said Tony Kuck, Daktronics software product manager. "Selecting Minnesota-produced components from Digi International was critical to providing a superior overall display solution."
Daktronics recently designed more than 25,000 square feet of LED boards within the U.S. Bank Stadium, and any location that is displaying score, time remaining, field location or game situation is using Digi technology to ensure that the most accurate information is being provided throughout the stadium.
"Whether it's the play clock ticking down, or wanting to know exactly how far to go for a first down, fans want to know," said Kevin C. Riley, chief operating officer, Digi International. "This is a continuation of a long-standing relationship we've had with Daktronics, and we're excited to be part of a state-of-the-art venue such as U.S. Bank Stadium."
Daktronics solutions utilizing Digi technology are now used at U.S. Bank Stadium (Minnesota Vikings), Target Field (Minnesota Twins), Xcel Energy Center (Minnesota Wild) and TCF Bank Stadium (University of Minnesota), with new equipment currently being installed at Target Center (Minnesota Timberwolves) for the upcoming basketball season. Additionally, Daktronics scoring or display equipment is in use at half of MLS facilities, 75 percent of NBA facilities, 80 percent of NFL and NHL facilities, and 100 percent of MLB facilities.
