Minibar Delivery Acquires Booze Carriage
Fast-growing industry leader purchases one of the first to market
NEW YORK, March 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Minibar Delivery -- the fast growing New York-based technology company that provides on-demand access to wine, liquor, beer and more – today announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Booze Carriage, another leading alcohol delivery platform based in New York City. Booze Carriage, which was founded in 2012 and is one of the original alcohol delivery services, has grown a sizeable and loyal customer base since launching nearly three years ago. As part of the deal, Minibar will acquire Booze Carriage's user base of over 25,000 customers and gain Booze Carriage's impactful corporate business, a significant source of their revenue. The deal, which will help grow Minibar sales by over 20%, will enhance Minibar's beer selection and double Minibar's beer distribution capabilities by broadening their keg delivery service, continuing to meet the demand from corporate clients.
Since Booze Carriage operated similarly to Minibar Delivery, connecting users to their local liquor stores to provide fast, free delivery, Minibar expects the transition to be an easy and seamless one for users. Booze Carriage's consumer database will be informed via a dedicated email inviting users to shop at Minibar. The acquisition marks the first of its kind in the rapidly growing alcohol delivery space and enhances Minibar's status as the leading on-demand alcohol delivery company in NYC.
"This is a significant day in the online alcohol delivery space and we couldn't be more excited to welcome Booze Carriage to the Minibar family," said Lara Crystal, Minibar co-founder. "They've built a strong business with a loyal user base and with this merger we will continue enhancing the Minibar platform while better serving present and future customers."
"Minibar shares both our customer-first philosophy and our vision for modernizing an industry," said Rob Matzkin, founder of Booze Carriage. "They have quickly become the industry leader in New York and beyond, and we are thrilled to be joining them."
The acquisition supports Minibar's mission to create the best way to shop for wine, spirits, beer and more. It also will accelerate its growth by adding 10 new vendor partners and Minibar expects to reduce delivery times by up to 25%. This acquisition comes on the heels of Minibar's rampant expansion, with six new markets launched over the past four months.
A full transition of the Booze Carriage service into the Minibar Delivery network is expected to be completed this week. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
