Minerva Schools at KGI Offer New Master of Science In Applied Analyses and Decision Making
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Minerva Schools at KGI announced today that it is accepting nominations for exceptional graduate students to earn its new Master of Science in Applied Analyses and Decision Making degree beginning in September 2017. The new Master's program at Minerva, which welcomed a pilot class of ten students in September 2016, is a first-of-its-kind offering designed specifically to develop the high-level and sophisticated skills needed in critical thinking, research, and analyses to support complex decision making across multiple disciplines.
The 20-month, part-time program is designed to impart crucial professional skills, with an emphasis on research, analysis, and practical decision-making. During the course of study, students learn to interpret complex data, reach rational conclusions, devise potential solutions, and evaluate the implications of decisions.
"For several years we have received strong interest from people who already hold a Bachelor's degree to acquire the skills that Minerva has focused on in the undergraduate cornerstone curriculum," said Dr. Joshua Fost, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies at Minerva. "It was a natural extension for us to create a Master's program that builds upon those foundations, enhancing the program with a focus on analytical thinking, research methodologies, and decision making as applied to problems in government, business, science, and more."
In response to much interest from working professionals, Minerva is offering the Master's program on a part-time schedule to accommodate graduate students balancing academics and career responsibilities.
Students who are invited to join the Master's program beginning in Fall 2017 will complete the program on a part-time schedule over 20 months, including 16 months of coursework followed by four months of independent work on a Master's thesis. Master's students at Minerva attend highly interactive live seminars, which are taught online through Minerva's proprietary Active Learning Forum, allowing them to live anywhere in the world. Students have lifetime access to Minerva's Professional Development Agency, which offers unique, personalized services for professional and personal development and career opportunities.
For consideration to join Minerva's Master's program in September 2017, students must first be nominated or can self-nominate at https://www.minerva.kgi.edu/msaadm. Qualified students will be invited to complete the application and admissions process.
