MindMixer and NRPA Join Together to Enhance Community Engagement Around Local Parks and Recreation
KANSAS CITY, Mo. and ASHBURN, Va., Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MindMixer, a civic engagement technology company, and the National Recreation and Park Association today announced a relationship that will provide the leaders of the nation's local parks and recreation with the opportunity to better engage the communities that care about them.
"Local parks and recreation are making communities more livable, sustainable and better connected," said Barbara Tulipane, president and CEO of NRPA. "The public is at the heart of parks and recreation so real-time engagement and feedback is critical to help inform decisions and generate support. MindMixer is an innovative way to do that."
As a result of the arrangement, special pricing is now available to NRPA members who are interested in securing a MindMixer platform on behalf of the organizations they represent. This one-of-a-kind tool allows them to create simple, customized and measurable engagement opportunities around important park and recreation topics, like conservation, health and wellness and social equity, as they relate specifically to their communities.
"No matter how diverse a community, its parks appeal to all community members in one way or another. However, it's no secret that community leaders aren't hearing that valuable feedback like they used to," said Nick Bowden, CEO of MindMixer. "It isn't that people have stopped caring, it's that their style of engagement has changed and government hasn't met them there. Culturally we're busier than ever, but we use technology to still participate in all the things we care about from wherever we are, whenever we can. MindMixer is a safe way for civic organizations to embrace this cultural shift and regain that public input that is so integral to the decision-making process."
More information about this offering will be available at the NRPA Congress, October 14-16, 2014, in Charlotte, N.C. Throughout the conference, MindMixer representatives will be demonstrating the product and discussing relevant case studies from its previous work with park organizations at booth 4148. And on Tuesday at 3 p.m., MindMixer Chief Growth Officer Mike Wirth will lead a Glass Room Session entitled, "An Evolution in Engagement: Finding and Building Your Audience."
