Mighty 'Mato Introduces 21 New Tomato Varieties for your Spring Garden
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mighty 'Mato, the first line of grafted tomato plants available to home gardeners in North America, is introducing 21 new varieties of grafted tomatoes this year. This brings their total selection to 39 grafted tomato varieties for spring 2013, including many heirlooms, which are often more susceptible to soil, climate, and disease problems. By grafting favorite heirlooms to vigorous, disease-resistant rootstock, they produce larger, stronger, hardier, healthier plants with at least double the fruit production that will flourish in all 50 states.

"This is changing the way Americans grow tomatoes," says John Bagnasco of the GardenLife Radio Show. "Mighty 'Mato focuses on grafting exciting new tomato varieties from the country's top breeders and heirloom varieties which are not available in markets because they don't ship as well as commercial varieties. The only way to get these great tasting and looking tomatoes is to grow them yourself."
Mighty 'Mato's offerings include uniquely beautiful and exceptionally flavorful heirloom varieties like 'Black Icicle,' 'Brandywine,' 'Copia,' and 'Chocolate Stripes,' as well as the first 'blue tomato,' 'Indigo Rose,' whose intriguing coloring is due to super high levels of anthocyanin (the same antioxidant found in blueberries); the world's earliest tomato, '42 Days;' and the new, gorgeous, striped 'Bumblebee' cherry tomatoes. Gardeners plagued by late blight will welcome 'Defiant,' the first tomato bred to be late blight resistant.
"Today's top chefs talk about using tasty and uniquely attractive tomatoes," says Bagnasco. "Mighty 'Mato has tomatoes in many colors, sizes, shapes and stripes. They're an interesting choice for today's food culture, and easier to grow successfully than traditional tomatoes."
Thirty-three varieties of Mighty 'Mato plants can be preordered at GardenLife.com, and shipped throughout the country in time for local planting schedules. Grafted vegetables may also be purchased by mail order from Territorial Seed Co., Totally Tomatoes, Vermont Bean, Gardens Alive and Jung Seed Company. They will also be available in the spring at garden centers nationwide.
Mighty 'Mato will go above and beyond the call of duty, bringing huge harvests to your garden this year!
