Meteor Named A "Cool Vendor" by Gartner
Leading analysts recognize JavaScript application development platform unifying cloud/client as innovative, impactful technology
SAN FRANCISCO, April 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Meteor, the creator of the first unified cloud/client application development platform for mobile and web, today announced that leading analyst firm Gartner has named it as a "Cool Vendor" in Application Development in Gartner, Inc's just-released report, Cool Vendors in Application Development, 2015.1
Meteor's full-stack JavaScript framework lets developers build sophisticated modern applications, including live-updating HTML5 and mobile interfaces and secure cloud services, all in one unified JavaScript environment. It is the easiest, fastest, and most cost effective platform for application software development that has existed in many years.
"We appreciate Gartner's recognition of Meteor as a 'Cool Vendor' and view it as an important validation of Meteor's position as a leading application platform," said Meteor Development Group founder and CEO of Geoff Schmidt. "We are delighted by the support from our international open source community, by the growing number of companies that are building business-critical applications on Meteor, and by the increasing scale and scope of the applications they are creating on the platform."
The Gartner report evaluates companies solving application development industry challenges with innovative solutions, capabilities and delivery methods. Gartner says these companies "all share a common theme of agility and responsiveness as well — traits that now clearly differentiate cool, new innovations from the old-style approaches of the past" and show "how agile practices, responsive Web and Web-scale computing efforts are high-profile challenges for today's application development leaders."
Tens of thousands of developers use Meteor to build new applications every day, and Meteor is now one of the top 10 starred projects on GitHub. Local Meteor meetup groups meet in over 100 cities. Meteor has approximately 5000 packages, contributed by teams around the world, that help developers deliver great modern applications even faster.
Meteor invented a new, dynamic architecture for building modern web and mobile applications. Since 2012, open source Meteor has set the standard for modern application development by creating the industry's only complete platform for cloud/client development. Meteor's JavaScript-based framework provides the underpinnings for modern apps, such as reactive UI components, WebSocket-based data transport, APIs that work identically on the server and the client, and a unified build system that targets browser, server and mobile from a single codebase.
