DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Oct. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A comprehensive discussion on how to use mentoring and sponsorship to maximize a career in information technology (IT) is the focus of an upcoming free webinar from CompTIA, the IT industry association, and its Advancing Women in IT Community.

"Maximize Your IT Career with Mentoring and Sponsorship," led by Elizabeth K. Eger, research associate with the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), is scheduled for 10 a.m. (Central) on Wednesday Oct. 7, 2015.

Eger, a doctoral candidate at the University of Colorado, conducts social science research on computing occupations, gender, organizations and education with NCWIT's Workforce and K-12 Alliances. She is a co-author of NCWIT's Girls and IT report, the Male Advocates report and the upcoming revision of the Women and IT report.

In this webinar Eger will explore how to use mentoring and sponsorship to maximize opportunities for a productive and rewarding career in IT. Takeaways from her presentation will include:
