Medtech College Introduces Emergency Medical Healthcare Education Opportunities To Its Campus Network
Company Expands into Massachusetts and Online with Acquisition of National Medical Education & Training Center
ATLANTA, Feb. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- JTC Education, the parent company of Medtech College has acquired National Medical Education & Training Center (NMETC), a respected Massachusetts EMT and Paramedic education provider. Based in West Bridgewater, Mass., NMETC offers campus-based and online EMT and Paramedic programs, along with an online Advanced EMT program.
As part of the transaction, Medtech has acquired 100% of National Medical Education & Training Center, Inc.'s stock.
Nationally accredited Medtech College offers a variety of healthcare degree and diploma programs at campuses in seven states and the District of Columbia, including nursing at several campuses. With the acquisition, Medtech enters a new market, gains NMETC's online presence, which it will expand, and two new, high-demand programs – EMT and Paramedic – that will be introduced to all Medtech campuses in 2014. Ultimately, Medtech also plans to offer many of its successful healthcare programs at the NMETC campus and through its online component.
"We see this partnership as benefiting both NMETC and Medtech," says Medtech College President and CEO John Hopkins. "It enables us to deliver more programs and resources to our customers – our students – including the availability of financial aid for NMETC students when the campus becomes Title IV-eligible, and provides a platform for 'brick and mortar' and distance learning program growth opportunities across all existing campuses."
According to Hopkins, recent policy changes in Massachusetts forced the closure of 16 paramedic education and training facilities statewide, leaving only six schools to meet demand. One of those remaining is National Medical Education & Training Center.
"Those that remain are the very best. With our additional resources, NMETC will receive support for ongoing educational growth, the ability to offer new curricula, and the resources not only to become the biggest and best in Massachusetts, but grow nationally," Hopkins adds. "Our joint passion for extraordinary student experiences, healthcare education focus, and combined resources will enable us to continue building a national healthcare education brand."
Effective immediately, National Medical Education & Training Center will be folded into the growing family of Medtech campuses throughout the eastern U.S.
"We are very excited about joining forces with such a reputable healthcare and continuing education provider as Medtech," says NMETC President Brad Newbury. Newbury, a Lieutenant Paramedic with the Stoughton (Mass.) Fire Department, and his wife, Kim, a masters-certified Nurse Practitioner from George Washington University, will continue to manage the school.
