MEDTEC China to Empower the Upgrading of China's Medical Industry
- MEDTEC China 2014 to expand by 20% -
SHANGHAI, March 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MEDTEC China 2014, which will be held at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center on September 25-26, has reported a 20% increase of exhibition space due to a booming Chinese medical device market, continuous investment of medical expenditures and the current rapid growth of the aging population. Testimony to the great potential shown by China's medical device market, 300 exhibitors in the 2014 edition from 15 countries and regions are expected to showcase their latest products, technology and solutions.
According to statistics in 2013, China's medical device market is expected to break 212 billion dollars, with a yearly increase of 21.19%. This number will continue to rise and is expected to reach 300 billion RMB in 2015. From 2000 to 2010 statistics, China's medical device market has grown with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21.3%.
Behind these fast-growing figures are various policies supported by the Chinese government accompanied with a huge market demand. In the Chinese Twelfth Five-year healthcare reform plan, the target was proposed that by 2015 the number of beds and services in non-public institutions need to reach 20% of total medical institutions. Following which, China's Ministry of Health pointed out in the Healthy China 2020 Strategic Research Report that in the next eight years, seven major medical projects will be launched with a total investment of 200 billion RMB. In October 2013, Chinese state council issued Several Opinions on Promoting the Development of Healthcare Industry to support R&D and industrialization of new drugs, medical devices and biomedical materials.
In addition, competition is fierce with a total of 14,928 medical device manufacturers in China at the end of 2012. But compared with other countries, there are still gaps in terms of product design, quality, and high-end technology for the Chinese companies. In order to meet the medical needs of nearly 1.3 billion people, China will be looking to acquire advanced medical materials, components, design and manufacturing technology and equipment.
Focusing on the upstream of China's medical industry and the Chinese market for 9 years, MEDTEC China stands to provide such a platform for the medical equipment manufacturers in China, introducing leading cutting-edge technology and advanced medical equipment from around the world and promoting the innovation and upgrading of China's medical industry.
