NEW YORK, Oct. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Green Beret Foundation announces the recipients of its 2014 awards, to be presented at a gala fundraiser on October 28 at the Pierre Hotel in New York City.
General (Retired) John M. Keane will present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO, FOX News & FOX Business, and Beth Ailes, Publisher, Putnam County News & Recorder and Putnam County Courier, in recognition of their staunch support of our military and for continuously upholding Green Beret traditions and values.
Elaine G. Howard, CEO of Gannett Government Media, will be presented with the Steel Magnolia Award for remaining a true Spartan female force for patriotism to our country.
Lieutenant General John F. Mulholland, Jr. will be recognized with the Quiet Professional Award for his unwavering dedication and respected leadership of our military personnel.
Fox News Anchor Bill Hemmer from Fox News will be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. The Most Reverend, Timothy P. Broglio, Archbishop for the Military Services, USA will begin by blessing the gathering.
Dinner Chairman Georgette Mosbacher said, "For the Green Berets, terms like 'war,' 'battle' and 'casualties' are not metaphors, but the day-to-day realities of their lives. The Green Beret Foundation never tires in helping each and every one of our heroes. It is our duty to help them in return."
The iconic Green Beret remains the symbol of excellence, courage, and distinction exemplified by the United States Army Special Forces, or Green Berets as they are known, who take on the most dangerous missions behind enemy lines to protect our families and our freedom. Over fifty years ago, President John F. Kennedy labeled the Green Beret as a "symbol of excellence," a "badge of courage," and a "mark of distinction in the fight for freedom."
Scotty Neil, Director of Strategic Development for the Green Beret Foundation, explains its mission: "The Green Beret Foundation provides immediate financial assistance to Green Berets who are injured in the line of duty and to the families of Green Berets injured or killed in action. We also distribute funds to support the extended care of an injured Green Beret in the event the Veteran's Administration is unable or unwilling to provide necessary care. The Foundation is focused on the immediate special needs of our wounded and is dedicated to the long-term health of our Green Beret family. We are overwhelmed by the response we have received especially by Beth and Roger Ailes, Georgette Mosbacher, Elaine Howard, General Mulholland, Bill Hemmer, Archbishop Broglio and our Founding Sponsor Bruce Parkman."
Bruce Parkman commented, "As CEO of MainNerve, LLC and Blue Light, LLC and as a Retired Green Beret, our team is proud to be the Founding Sponsors for this truly great organization. The Green Berets and their families have sacrificed so much for our country, it is our duty to honor them and give back whenever we can."
