Measurable Difference Cosmetics Encourages Women To Take The "Measurable Difference In Women's Lives Challenge"
Company Announces Support to Women's Refugee Commission
NEW YORK, June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- This summer, Measurable Difference Cosmetics is launching a national campaign to bring awareness and dollars to the growing refugee problem. Whether refugees are victims of a natural disaster in Oklahoma or refugees of the war in Syria, the numbers are growing. The company has committed to sending a portion of the sales of Measurable Difference mascara to the Women's Refugee Commission while also inviting women to "enhance your lashes" as a sign of strength for other women in need.
Measurable Difference CEO & Founder Helga Arminak is a former refugee. Her family fled from Beirut, Lebanon when she was a child, and she struggled to survive in extreme poverty before eventually becoming a self-made multi-millionaire. Now, she says it's her turn to give back. For every mascara sold in the months of June, July, and August, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Women's Refugee Commission. The company is also looking to identify individual refugees in need.
Arminak firmly believes that nothing enhances beauty more than helping others. "Outer beauty is meaningless without inner beauty," Arminak says. "Each year, men grow mustaches to promote Prostate Cancer Awareness. We are enhancing lashes because we want to make a measurable difference in the lives of women and children. This campaign will also provide financial support and raise awareness about the plight of millions of people in need."
"There are so many women and children who are homeless because of natural disaster, war, or poverty. This can mean a woman or child in Oklahoma or Syria. Even if you don't enhance your lashes with us, we hope you will find some other way to help women and children in need this summer," says Arminak.
According to the World Refugee Commission, there are currently more than 42 million refugees displaced worldwide. Of these, 80% are women, children and young people. Most have been displaced by ongoing conflicts. In addition, between 10 million and 40 million people are displaced by natural disasters each year both in the U.S. and abroad.
The mission of the Women's Refugee Commission is to improve and protect the lives of women and children by researching their needs, identifying solutions, and supporting educational programs and policies.
Educational initiatives are important to this cosmetics company. CEO Helga Arminak is currently creating an internship program with universities nationwide to help female students learn how to succeed in business.
