MDC Partner Network Augments Support of Partner Agencies with Addition of Lori Senecal
Senecal Takes on Role of President & CEO of MDC Partner Network, Adding Agency Leadership Experience to Depth of MDC Partners Strategic Resources
Andre Coste to Take on Role of MDC Partner Network Chief Operating Officer
NEW YORK, Aug. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Miles S. Nadal, Chairman, President and CEO of MDC Partners Inc. (NASDAQ: MDCA; TSX: MDZ.A), announced today that the company has enlisted Lori Senecal as President & CEO of the MDC Partner Network. The Partner Network, established last year as a division within the MDC Partners company, includes the MDC agency operations and the corporate Strategic Resources designed to provide expertise and dedicated resources to those partner firms. Senecal will work with Andre Coste, who takes on the expanded leadership role of MDC Partner Network Chief Operating Officer. In her capacity leading the Partner Network, Senecal will report to Nadal, who will continue to oversee all strategic and operational matters and lead the public company. At the same time, Senecal also joins the MDC Partners Board of Directors.
Leveraging her agency leadership experience as Chairman and CEO of kbs+, Senecal will be responsible for deepening MDC's unique model, working with the agency partners in a strategic counsel role, and providing vision around the MDC resources that best fuel partner agency growth. As more MDC firms work collaboratively with one another to drive client success, Senecal will also play a leadership role in partnering with clients to help optimize seamless structures across partner capabilities. Coste, who has taken on COO responsibilities after over a year with MDC as the CFO of the Partner Network, will lead Partner Network operations.
"With the continued rapid growth and success of MDC, and with consideration of our future growth plans, both domestically and internationally, I am thrilled to be welcoming such a strong agency leader to the MDC management team," said Nadal. "Everything MDC Partners has done over recent years to bring additional firepower to our infrastructure has been in the interest of our mission – to fuel the growth and success of our clients and agency partners. Lori's experience driving creativity and invention, multinational client work and global expansion, alongside her leadership in technology, digital and analytics, is extraordinary. I have never been more confident that our ambitious network's structure, culture, and entrepreneurial spirit make it the model of the future for client and partner agency success, and I look forward to building on that opportunity with Lori, Andre and the rest of our management team for years to come."
Senecal remains at the helm of kbs+ as Global Executive Chairman focused on global expansion, while Ed Brojerdi, formerly President and Chief Creative Officer of kbs+, will become responsible for the New York office as CEO of kbs+ New York. One of the few women with her name on the door of a major ad agency, Senecal served as President of the flagship New York office of McCann-Erickson Worldwide, Inc. prior to joining kbs+ in 2009, and for years pioneered new approaches and practices, holding top leadership positions in the areas of strategic planning, innovation and account leadership. In 2003, Senecal conceived and launched TAG Ideation, a young-adult marketing specialist unit, and brings extensive multinational expertise as well as a thorough knowledge of data analytics to MDC, having led worldwide accounts such as Coca-Cola and Nestle and worked with such notable brands as BMW, Vanguard, and Microsoft, among many others.
A believer that it takes true invention to deliver real competitive advantage for brands, Senecal has ignited a movement to push beyond the hyperbole of "innovation" to genuine invention. In that pursuit, over the last five years, she transformed kbs+ into the brand agency for an inventive world, spearheading agency business units around technology (kbs+ Spies & Assassins), start-up investment (kbs+ Ventures) and content creation (kbs+ Content Labs). Under her leadership, the agency has grown from a 250-person domestic agency to over 800 people worldwide. In 2013, Senecal was honored at the AWNY Game Changer Awards with a Quantum Leap award, and in 2014, was named Woman to Watch by Advertising Age. She sits on the 4A's National Board of Governors, and for the past two years has acted as Jury Chair for the Isaac Awards honoring invention.
"It is truly a great privilege to work with MDC's remarkably visionary team, particularly at such an exciting time in the company's growth," said Senecal. "As an agency leader in the MDC family, I know first-hand how instrumental a supportive strategic partner can be in the growth and success of an agency, and how differentiated MDC's model really is. I look forward to leveraging that experience to further MDC's powerful vision, to bringing clients the full strength of MDC's resources, and to providing added support to all of the MDC agencies across the network."
