BOSTON, Dec. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- McLean Hospital and the EDI Institute have announced a strategic partnership to further ascertain the clinical effectiveness and impact of Expressive Digital Imagery® (EDI) in clinical settings across psychiatric conditions, levels of care, and delivery models, the two organizations announced today.
McLean has led the nation in the early use of EDI, the creation of imagery on mobile devices for therapeutic self-expression.
According to McLean Hospital President and Psychiatrist in Chief Scott L. Rauch, MD, the hospital has successfully piloted the use of EDI in its inpatient units and residential, partial hospitalization, outpatient and school-based programs.
"The feedback from our patients and clinicians has been very positive, with many sharing how EDI has helped people express themselves in new and more effective ways and how much the program has helped open up avenues of communication," said Rauch. "The expanded partnership between McLean and the EDI Institute will allow us to better understand the effectiveness of EDI in improving the patient care experience."
"We are thrilled to be expanding our successful and collaborative partnership with McLean to further broaden and innovate the use of Expressive Digital Imagery® in promoting recovery and emotional resilience for those facing mental health challenges," said Steven Koppel, founder of the EDI Institute.
In this partnership, the EDI Institute will provide McLean Hospital, the largest psychiatric affiliate of Harvard Medical School, with priority access to EDI Institute innovations, with McLean serving as an ongoing learning laboratory for the integration and testing of EDI. Both groups will also collaborate in identifying opportunities for increasing the use of EDI within McLean, and across the country in additional therapeutic settings.
