McGuire Steps Down as President of Meridian Health Plan

DES MOINES, Iowa, March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Andy McGuire is stepping down as President and COO of Meridian Health Plan to focus her efforts as Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party.

Over the last three years, McGuire has worked to improve the quality of care among the Medicaid population at Meridian Health Plan — doubling immunization rates, dramatically increasing prenatal care and growing the company from zero to over 50,000 members in 44 counties across the State of Iowa.

"I've spent the past 15 years in health care management and I'm extraordinarily proud of what we accomplished in such a short time at Meridian Health Plan," said McGuire. "But the timing is right for me to pass the torch to a new president at Meridian."

McGuire has always been involved with nonprofits and civic engagement which has significantly ramped up since being elected Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party in January. Since her election, the owners of Meridian Health Plan and McGuire have been working out a transition. "I'm excited to continue in an advisory role with the company and also have more time to dedicate to the tremendous work ahead of me as Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party," said McGuire.
