Top-rated Fort Lauderdale recording studio enjoys successful launch by Mark Begelman
POMPANO BEACH, Fla., July 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly four thousand bands from South Florida rehearse their music at Markee Music in Deerfield Beach. Even legendary performers and groups like Bad Company, Jose Feliciano, Pat Travers, the Romantics and the Rick Springfield Band have rehearsed at Markee Music.
Markee was founded by Mark Begelman and Keith Ridenour and has quickly become one of South Florida's best options for music rehearsals, recording and lessons.
Begelman is certainly experienced in the world of music. A native of Long Island, he was a corporate buyer who started the Office Club product store chain in the 1980s and eventually became the President of Office Depot in the 1990s.
He left Office Depot in 1995 to start MARS Music, an instrument store, and eventually grew it to a value of $360 million before leaving in 2002. Since then he started his own entertainment consulting practice and even became the CEO of Pizza Fusion, a popular organic pizza restaurant chain.
Today Begelman is a board member at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He also runs the Begelman Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting children through music and the arts. He is also very active in the American Red Cross
Markee Music is a personal passion project of Begelman's. Located in Deerfield Beach at 1700 S. Powerline Road, Markee has seven rehearsal studios with all sorts of gear. Each room has two guitar amplifiers from Fender, Mesa Boogie, Marshall and Hughs & Kettner among others, a bass guitar rig with double stack and a 450 watt head, a keyboard amp and a 5 piece drum kit.
Rooms also feature a 1200 watt PA system complete with with monitors and mics. Cymbals and bass pedals are also available for ten dollars extra per session. Everything a band needs for recording, rehearsals or lessons can be found at Markee.
Each room is totally soundproof for full protection. There's also a sound stage and two iso booths located at Markee.
Mark Begelman says that Markee was formed to create the best practice environment for every type of musician ranging from novice players to the masters.
Begelman and Ridenour have still made it easy for people to afford to rehearse and learn how to play their instruments at Markee. It costs $22.50 per hour to use a studio for rehearsals. It also costs $35 per hour to use the performance room. Private music lessons are also available for $50 an hour or $30 per half hour.
