Marina Silva Meets With Investors and the Business Community in New York
On Wednesday, The presidential candidate of the Green Party opens in New York the first Marina House abroad
SAO PAULO, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Senator Marina Silva (who represents the state of Acre), candidate for presidency of the Green Party (PV) flies July 20th, to New York, where she will meet with international investors, business people, executives, journalists, and Brazilians residing in the city.
Her agenda starts on Wednesday, July 21st, from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm (local time), when she will have lunch in the Council of the Americas/Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce with guest business people and executives. During the meeting, which will be closed to the press, the senator will make a short speech and then talk to the attendees.
At 3:30 pm on the same day, she will be opening the first Marina House abroad. The campaign headquarters will be set up in the home of Ivy Goulart, born in the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil. An actor and director of documentaries, Goulart has joined the Marina Silva Movement, a political party independent movement which gathers supporters of Ms. Silva in Brazil and abroad.
On Thursday, at 11 am, the presidential candidate will take part in a meeting organized by BM&FBovespa (the securities, commodities and futures Exchange of Brazil), to be held at The New York Palace Hotel, with representatives of the international financial community. This meeting will be open to the press.
The meeting will be opened by Edemir Pinto, CEO of BM&FBovespa. At 11:05 am, economist Marcio Garcia, professor of the Economics Department of PUC Rio de Janeiro (Pontifical Catholic University), will present the "Economic Outlook". At 11:40 am, William R. Rhodes, a consultant for Citi, will speak about the "Financial Outlook". The presidential candidate's speech about her government proposals is expected for 12:15 pm and should be 40 minutes long.
After lunch, which will be served between 1:30 and 2:30 pm, Ms. Silva will hold a press conference with the journalists present. At 6:30 pm, she will meet will Brazilian correspondents living in the United States. She flies back to Brazil on the same night.
In addition to her candidate for vice president, Mr. Guilherme Leal, Ms. Silva will be accompanied during the trip by economist Eduardo Giannetti da Fonseca, who is helping write her government program; by executive Álvaro de Souza, former-president of Citibank in Brazil; and by Alfredo Sirkis, the national president of the Brazilian Green Party (PV).
