SAN FRANCISCO, May 28, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mango Health, a leading mobile health company, is today announcing its first clinical results, the launch of a new platform for chronic condition management and the appointment of Carolyn Jasik, MD, as Vice President of Medical Outcomes and Clinical Informatics. Dr. Jasik joins the company from University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) where she served as clinical faculty.
Clinical Results
Mango Health recently completed a one-year clinical study with a top 3 U.S. integrated managed care system. The study is unique in its use of pharmacy dispense data to measure the effectiveness of a mobile health intervention. Key program results include:
- Strong adherence lift observed in the overall patient population and across adherence measurements.
- 20% increase in on-time prescription refills for the most at-risk participants in the program, hypertensive patients taking 5 or more medications.
- Patients were active in the Mango Health app 17 times per week, a rate of more than 4x healthcare industry benchmarks.
New Mobile Tools for Chronic Condition Management
With proven lift in medication adherence and strong patterns of daily engagement established, Mango Health is today launching a suite of new daily health management features that includes support for monitoring weight, blood pressure and steps walked.
"Medication adherence is a critical first step towards better health for millions of people, but it's not the only important step," said Mango Health Co-founder and CEO Jason Oberfest. "By launching our new daily habit features, we are extending beyond medication management to more comprehensive daily health management—continuing to support patients and improve health outcomes in chronic populations."
As part of the new Mango Health Habit features, the company is announcing an integration with the Google Fit health tracking platform. As announced today at the Google I/O developer conference, Google Fit members on select Android devices will be able to access their walking and running activity in the Mango Health Android application. Daily steps walked activity will be integrated into the Mango Health points tracking and reward systems, providing an engaging experience around building and maintaining healthy habits.

Today Mango Health is also announcing that Carolyn Jasik, MD, a board certified clinical informatics physician, is joining the company as Vice President Medical Outcomes and Clinical Informatics.
