In its sixth year of honoring the country's leading telecommunication players, Frost & Sullivan recognized both home grown successes along with multinational companies operating within the highly competitive Malaysian space.
Adding to the prominence of the evening were telecom industry leaders, Daisaku Takeuchi, managing director from NEC Corp, Firoz Dato' Mohd Noor, CEO from Idot TV, Sua Chek Hoong, deputy managing director from Huawei, Steven Tai, managing director from Ericsson and Dato' Sri Shazalli Ramly, CEO of Celcom Axiata along with many well-known leaders who joined the gala banquet dinner.
Congratulating the recipients on their achievement, Nitin Bhat, Partner at Frost & Sullivan, said, "In spite of near saturation in the local telecoms industry, the award recipients have shown that a focus on the customer latent needs and innovation of product and services portfolio allows for superior market performance."
While the awards applaud the success of these outstanding organizations for their business efforts in 2009, Frost & Sullivan calls on the community to understand and successfully tap on the change in operating landscape that the Malaysian telecoms sector would face in the year 2010.
Last year, growth was seen in areas of mobile broadband, high speed broadband (HSBB) and the shared services and outsourcing (SSO) sector. Though expecting only a moderate growth within the local ICT space in the post-global financial crisis, Frost & Sullivan strongly believes that the cost optimization will drive companies to consider technologies such as virtualization, managed services and cloud computing in their business operations. Adding to this, the increasing consumer adoption of Web 2.0 solutions such as Facebook, Twitter and personal blogs suggests that companies need to adopt these alternative customer outreach programmes, if not already doing so. In its adoption of these open-communication platforms it is crucial for the operators to stay ahead of their consumers in order to successfully tap these new engagement channels that offer limitless communication opportunities.
The deserving recipients were selected following a meticulous process in which a team of Frost & Sullivan leading analysts short-listed, researched and evaluated the top contenders in each category, applying the same thorough approach that is a hallmark of Frost & Sullivan analysis globally.
The findings of the detailed evaluation were then presented to an independent panel of judges comprising influential decision makers from the telecommunications sector, industry leaders and the media, who have themselves pushed the boundaries of innovation and corporate excellence, to determine the recipients in each category. The Awards banquet was held along-side the 2010 Malaysia Excellence Awards that brought together legendary successes from a multitude of industries including healthcare, industrial technologies, logistics and automotive sectors.
Seeking to recognize companies that define excellence the Awards hosted over 200 guests from a multitude of industries at a first-of-its-kind banquet in Malaysia. Attending the evening's celebration were top management teams from Proton, Prince Court, Poslaju, Public Bank Berhad, Sime Darby and many more prominent local operations.
