DALLAS, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- After rallying in Washington D.C. last week to call on Congress to eliminate drunk driving, Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) and new presenting sponsor State Farm® announced the fall line-up of Walk Like MADD® events, non-competitive 5K walks designed to make communities safer.

"MADD is thankful for State Farm's commitment to creating safer communities," said Laura Dean Mooney, MADD National President. "We have a plan to eliminate drunk driving and, thanks to State Farm, communities can now get involved by participating in a local Walk Like MADD event."
This year MADD celebrates its 30th anniversary. In the 30 years since its inception, MADD has successfully cut drunk driving fatalities in half, served over 57,000 victims, and saved thousands of young lives. However, recent traffic fatality data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that more than 30 percent of deaths on our roadways still occur in drunk driving crashes.
Walk Like MADD events take place in more than 30 cities across the country. Corporations and individuals form teams of 10 or more and are asked to raise $100 each through donations. Funds raised help further MADD's life-saving mission and the Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving which calls for support of the heroes who keep our roadways safe, laws requiring convicted drunk drivers to "blow before they go" with ignition interlocks, and efforts to turn cars into the cure through new smart technology.
"State Farm supports Walk Like MADD because we know that drinking and driving are a dangerous combination," said Kellie Clapper, State Farm Assistant Vice President, Community Relations, "Join the Walk and help us support Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in its efforts to reduce impaired driving."
