BOCA RATON, Fla., Oct. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Lynn University Director of Athletics, Kristen Migliano, has decided to step down after 13 years with the NCAA Division II Fighting Knights to pursue her passion for teaching. She will remain in her current post through the 2014–15 academic year, and as of fall 2015, will become associate professor of management in Lynn's College of Business and Management. Migliano is a two-time Lynn alumna and also holds a Ph.D. in organizational management.
Migliano was appointed Director of Athletics in 2006, and under her leadership, the Fighting Knights have earned five national championship titles in baseball, women's golf, men's soccer and men's tennis. Since she joined the organization in 2002, 69 student athletes have earned Academic All-American accolades, seven Sunshine State Conference regular season titles, and 18 Sunshine State Conference tournament championships.
"We are very proud of the contributions Kristen has made to our campus throughout the years," says Lynn University President Kevin M. Ross. "While we are sad to see her departure as our Athletics Director, we are thrilled to still have her as part of the Lynn family in this new capacity."
Lynn's athletics program has grown to over 240 student athletes earning an overall 3.38 GPA in spring 2014. The university was also recognized as a winner of the NCAA Division II Community Engagement Award of Excellence, which is awarded to institutions that successfully "build bridges" with their communities. Migliano established Lynn University's student-athlete academic and citizenship excellence program by initiating the NCAA's CHAMPS/Life Skills curriculum in 2002.
With Migliano's assistance, Lynn University has recently completed two major athletics facilities, the Perper Tennis Complex and Bobby Campbell Stadium, and has plans for several more, including a new baseball stadium, softball stadium and intramural field.
The university currently is conducting a nationwide search to fill the Director of Athletics role. Qualified candidates may apply at lynn.edu/employment.
