Lyndon Baines Johnson Foundation Names New Development Director

AUSTIN, Texas, July 26, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Lyndon B. Johnson Foundation has named Mary Herman as  Deputy Director of Development.  Herman, who assumed her new position on July 18, 2011, is a long-time fundraiser and community leader in the Central Texas area and brings years of expertise to the position.

Herman will direct the Foundation's fund-raising activities as well as provide guidance in the development of strategic plans for the LBJ Foundation, LBJ Library and Museum, and LBJ School of Public Affairs.

"With her extensive and successful background in development and civic leadership, Mary Herman is ideally qualified for this position," said Larry Temple, Chairman, LBJ Foundation.  "She brings a commitment to excellence, a deep understanding of President Johnson's legacy, and keen insight about the important contributions a presidential library brings to a community."

Most recently, Herman was the Executive Director of the Texas Book Festival from 2004-2008.  Prior to her role with the Book Festival, Herman held top leadership positions with:  Austin Community Foundation, The University of Texas at Austin, University Medical Center Brackenridge Hospital, Communities in Schools, Helping Hand for Children, St. Andrew's Episcopal School, and the Junior League of Austin.

Born and raised in Texas, Herman holds a degree in Education from The University of Texas at Austin.
