HOUSTON, July 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Lone Star College has acquired 8.3 acres in Generation Park to build an approximately 50,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Process Technology Center. As a reflection of McCord Development's commitment to the College's mission of developing the skilled workers of tomorrow today, the Company donated 2.3 acres to the College.
"We are moving quickly to address the key employment issues facing Houston companies today," said Dr. Katherine Persson, Lone Star College, Kingwood President. "This Process Technology Center will prepare students with the critical skills that are in high demand from the world's leading oil and gas companies."
After Lone Star College successfully passed their $485 million bond package in November 2014, the College looked to McCord Development to find the ideal location at Generation Park.
"Lone Star College is a great asset to our community," said John Flournoy, Vice President at McCord Development. "Equally so, the College will be a great asset to the companies at Generation Park because they have such a collaborative approach to developing the kind of curriculum that is well-suited to our economy."
Lone Star College communicates with area companies on an ongoing basis to understand their unmet needs and the types of skilled employees they are seeking, including their new neighbor at Generation Park, FMC Technologies, Inc.
"Houston continues to be the energy capital of the world and our graduates contribute to the success of the region," says Dr. Persson. "Our Process Technology Center at Generation Park enables us to take the next step in accomplishing our mission."
